Fun Hangover

I have a hangover today. It's a fun hangover. I had SO much fun this weekend in Orlando at my best friend's wedding that I'm nearly hitting a state of depression as I type this fervently at my office desk. I was so happy to leave this office on Thursday evening, but I felt the absolute opposite of that precious elated feeling when I pulled into my parking spot this morning.

Anyways, I hope that I am not bumming you out too much. Perhaps you can relate. There aren't too many photos from the wedding out yet, I'm sure they will start trickling out on my Facebook feed over the next few days, but for now I will share some of the mobile uploads I put up yesterday via @TheresaMcCabe on Twitter and theresamccabe on Instagram, and a rogue pic from Facebook.

Have a happy Monday, if you can.

My Best Friend's Wedding!

Today I am in Orlando for my best friend Maria's wedding! Now I know I am not close to getting married, but I already have a wedding pin board on Pinterest in progress... hehe.

Anyways! This is a queued post since I'm likely busy being the bride's maid, so the only appropriate thing to do is to leave you with some cool wedding cake pics until I can upload some pictures of the actual wedding.

But if you just can't wait then follow my on Twitter @TheresaMcCabe for real time updates of the bridezilla and wedding pics!! Or if you prefer a more vintage view on the event, stalk Tcbasket22 on Instagram. If you're REALLY lucky then you're already my Facebook friend and you'll find all the real good stuff there :)

Camilla Molders: Sophisticated, Like Gold

I have always favored silver. Maybe it's just my taste, or maybe in the back of my mind I've always thought that I am not sophisticated enough for gold.

But gold is for winners and gold is for lovers! So here it is. I am branching out into the precious metal world and putting my secret love for gold on display!

To start, I want to share a talented Interior Designer from Australia, her name is Camilla Molders. Her Designalogue Blog (love that name!) is a great read for design enthusiasts and my favorite room of hers was recently featured in the March 2012 issue of Home Beautiful Magazine.

Check out her Portfolio Gallery. I love the way the green and gold accents pop in this living room. The light and airy glass tables are weighed down by the gold trim, and that chair fabric is to die for!

And finally, it IS #FollowFriday on Twitter today so please go find and follow Camilla @camillamolders. Have a great day everyone!

Hump Day Round Up

Happy Already Hump Day! I have been so busy and excited to prepare for the upcoming AAU basketball season. After last night's Vermont Lightning coaches meeting it looks like I'll be bumped up to coach the 9th grade girl's team this season.

This past weekend I was so busy! Friday night I took Mike to see John Valby aka Dr. Dirty at Higher Ground... it was my surprise Valentine's Day present to him.

Then Saturday I finally got a chance thrift shop around the area. I found some really great stores and some perfect fabric to reupholster my hamper with... my next project in queue.

On our day off Mike and I drove around looking for our first king size bed! Apparently I'm a violent sleeper so he needs more space haha. Then we ventured into redneck land trying to find him parts for his new mechanic obsession... his Honda Odyssey, not the mini van, but the go kart version from the 80s.

Honda Odyssey Go-Kart
He bought some burly new tires for his toy and I found a baby blue shelf on the side of the road!!!!! Basically it was an amazing day. I have to clean it off before I bring it inside, but I probably won't have any time for DIY project for a week or two.

I hope everyone is having a nice short work week. Mine will be cut even shorter because I am flying down to Orlando tomorrow evening for my best friend's wedding! :)

This Lucy Room

I am totally sick this morning. I woke up with every yucky feeling imagineable. Now I am in my pajamas trying to work from home. Major bummer. There is nothing worse than working and getting stressed out when you're feeling sick. I'm going to try and get a bunch done this morning so I can take a nap at 1.

Meanwhile, pop over to Lucy Interior Designs to check out some of her gorgeous designs.

Back Porch Paradise

It is unseasonably warm and gorgeous here in Vermont today. The sun is shining, birds are chirping, I didn't have to warm up my car before heading out this morning, AND I didn't even wear a coat on my drive to work!

The warm weather is making everyone super cheerful today, or perhaps it was the Oreo bomb balls I brought in for the office (pics to come) ... Either way we are all smiles this Friday...

Right now I wish I was sitting outside on a peaceful back porch sipping an ice cold lemonade while reading the most recent edition of Country Living Magazine, which I have barely had time to look through this month!

So won't you escape with me to the back porch of a lovely home? That is, until the home owner comes outside and finds us and is like, "Hey! What the heck are you random people doing here?!?!" HAHA  It's FRIDAY! Happy Fave-day everyone!

Lovely People Pictures

Well it's the day after Valentine's Day. The chocolate may be gone, but love is still in the air! I wanted to share some more pictures from the Valentine's Day Party, this time showcasing the beautiful people who hosted and attended!

First out of the gate we have the wonderful hosts! I present to you Heather, Theresa and Elly. (I am Theresa, in the middle) Now is my chance to brag that my outfit cost a total $27... Hells yes!

Next up we have my imported guests! Maria and Janice came up from the tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT) to get their party on, Vermont style!

And last but certainly not least I present to you my wonderful boyfriend, WHO, despite my lying about wanting flowers and chocolate, surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of roses to my office :) Thanks Mike!

Happy Valentine's Day!

This weekend my roommates and I hosted a very successful Valentine's Day cocktail party... complete with fancy dresses, pink cake balls and... Irish car bombs?

The drinks weren't the only thing that made the party a smashing success! I featured a few easy yet pleasing treats that definitely satisfied the sweet tooth that Cupid hits everyone with this time of year. I assembled a batch of a pinker version of my Christmas nip-bits...

This time I used peanut butter filled M&Ms to add yet another layer of yum flavor to the nips.

I made a batch of pink funfetti bake balls, using pink candy melt coating, which I was not a fan of. Next time I will go back to using white chocolate instead of candy melts as a coating.

And finally some cute chocolate covered pretzels!

Now just to address the car bomb comment... My best friend Maria and her fiance and Irishman "Frank the tank" were in attendance... They are true love at its finest. Well obviously he brought the Guinness, and the Bailey's, and the whiskey... I couldn't join in on the car bombing due to my lactardedness, but I did get my own favorite bomb made for me by the one and only Janice Kane... the jager bomb! Thanks Jan...

I apologize for the lack of posting yesterday. I was very busy at the office, so I forced myself to wake up an hour early to get these pictures and post up. But I believe that the harder you work the luckier you get, and I always work hard :) I will be the editor of an amazing magazine one day, even if I have to start it myself!!!!

* Happy Valentine's Day everyone * If you are reading this then, I love you!

Follow Friday

This weekend the roomies and I are hosting a Valentine's Day cocktail party. I was a few minutes late for work today because this morning I decided to do some quick decorating... I don't have pictures right now but everything looks MONDO cute. I will share on Monday.

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! And if you are heading up to Vermont at some point today, then please travel safe and I'll see ya soon :) BTW my homemade sushi is on the menu tonight haha - Happy Follow Friday!

The Whoopie Pie Wafer Incident

Last week I decided I wanted to make whoopie pies. I intended for them to look like footballs for the Super Bowl, which, need I remind you, the FABULOUS New York Giants won...

Anyways. I made up my own recipe, and it totally failed me. The whoopie pies came out of the oven looking more like whoopie wafers:

But that didn't discourage me, I took my new heart shaped cookie cutter and made heart shaped whoopie pies! They looked nice, but they were wayyy too sweet (I know, how can that be possible?? I'm telling you, it is...) and the cream filling was weirdly runny and oozy. Another fail.

But I didn't give up! I went ahead and rolled some vanilla frosting into the excess whoopie pie cake crumbles and made chocolate fudge brownie cake balls. Thankfully these were very much a success.

I really want to just give up trying to bake new stuff. I am good at making cake balls, so that's probably what I'll whip up for our Valentine's Day party this weekend. I'm so excited! I bought pretty new shoes and a new dress, at a thrift store obviously... Don't worry I'll post pictures. Did I even have to say that? Have a good one!

Super Bowl Commercials: A Different Analysis

First of all, let's give it up for our New York Giants!!!! My Dad and sister Katie are the BEST fans EVER! They went to the game last night and had a fabulous time, obviously!!!

GO BIG BLUE!

SO BUSY... Cool Blue Hues

Yesterday I was SO BUSY that I didn't get a chance to prepare a blog post for today. I barely even have time to be writing this right now, but I just have to, or I will actually go insane.

I was stuck late at the office yet again last night (insert curse words mixed with loud groans here) so I was unable to join Mike in picking out a paint color for his master bedroom. When I finally got to his house to help him tape and paint the room, he had already gone to Lowe's and chosen the color himself. When I realized what color he picked, I cried a little.

But don't worry, they were tears of JOY! He ended up getting my favorite shade of blue! Valspar Gallon Interior Matte Paint in Cool Sheets.

This blue is so cool that it's almost turquoise! We are going to paint the base boards and window trim white, eventually. My goal is to have the room will be featured on House of Turquoise one day... hehe!

I told him that now I can't wait for garage sale season to furnish the room with some sweet Theresa McCabe DIY originals... I strongly advise you stay tuned...

Okay back to work. Sad Face.

Bedroom Talk

Tonight Mike and I will be painting his master bedroom! After work we are running to Lowe's to pick up the paint color. I think I have played a successful role in convincing him to go with a light shade of blue.

The room is large and lovely, with plenty of sunlight streaming in through the southeast  facing bay windows. Notice the pale pink walls...

So once we get the wall painted, all that he'll have left to do is... well... everything else...  But I will gladly be there to help him every step of the way! Happy Thursday!
